Rain, River, Sea

Those tears that slipped
So easily
Down my whitened cheeks,
All of those nights
And days
And inexplicable moments:
I catch them
And hold them now,
Cupped in my palms.
The weight of the sadness
No longer in my heart
But in my hands;
Tangible, whole.
I feel the light on my face
And inside me,
Flowing like blood.
I am overcome with peace.
In one easy movement
I open my hands
And let the tears fall
One last time
To become rain
Or a river
Or the sea.
