Winter Haiku

Candlelit evening
Winter’s romantic heart binds
Us within its warmth

Heavy woollen sky
The world waits with upturned palms
For white flakes to fall

Light a fire, my dear
Nobody will find us here
Buried in the snow

Your cheeks blushing red
From the cold or from my kiss
Guess I’ll never know

A blanket of warmth
You’re the only one I want
Wrap me up in you

  1. Wow. Truly a match for Basho. I especially love these lines:

    “Light a fire, my dear
    Nobody will find us here
    Buried in the snow”

    You are a wonderful poet!
