Flower Market

A stall at Colombia Road flower market

Fuchsia, gold, lavender.
Petal scents and distant music.
You let go of my hand,
I lost you in the crowd.
Sunday sun on ambling bodies.
Rub of sage between thumb and forefinger.
Snipped stems wrapped in paper.
A dozen roses for a fiver.
“There you are, Darling,
Let’s buy a lupin.”
