Rain On Glass

Home alone after dark.
Raindrops tap the glass
Like fingertips,
Urging me to part the curtains
And gaze out into the night.
But I know that if I do
All I’ll see
Is my own reflection
Streaked with water,
As if emerging
From the depths of a lake,
Presumed drowned;
Almost forgotten.
