Always You

I sit down to read.
Cool, damp air drifts in
Through the open window
And settles on my skin.
It has rained all day
But now, everything just drips
Forlornly.
A sentence in my book
Turns my thoughts to you:
‘He wasn’t at all loud,
Even his smile was quiet.’
It made me think of you
Because when it was just us
You were quiet in your love for me.
Yet I felt it
As though you shouted it
At the top of your lungs.
You are in
The little things
That fill my days
And my thoughts.
You.
Always you.
It’s always you.
