Marbles

Droplets of water down your back;
I watch them slide across your skin
Like marbles over a wooden floor.
This morning you arrived
At my door, unexpectedly.
Now we are in the shower together.
You feel almost like a stranger to me,
Or at least like a new person.
Yet here we are, naked
And unashamed.
Shrouded in hot water, we hide
And share our secrets
Silently.
Freckles on your shoulders
From afternoons outside.
I kiss them; wet lips on wet skin.
We switch off the water and wait
For the air to dry us.
Today, I had a second chance
To meet you
For the first time.
