An Appetite For Clarity

The further I float
Through this strange world,
The more I realise
How little I know.
We sit together and ask questions
But we don’t know the answers,
And we won’t
For a very long time.
Yet some things are clear
As the air we breathe.
A melody.
A word.
A memory.
We are our movements,
Our senses,
Our desires.
Watching a beautiful woman dress herself,
The colour of an unfamiliar ocean,
Dark chocolate on the tongue.
All we can ever know for sure
Are the things that move us.
A heart that stirs
Is as sure as a sun that rises.
An appetite for clarity;
We are our senses.
