A Shadow, You Are

When once you dwelt
In every word;
Each letter a piece of you.
Now a shadow you have become
Like a willow over the page.
A shadow, you are,
A breath of cool air.
Watch over me still,
Remain in my presence.
Like light on a spring leaf.
Once, you were the root,
But now, the sun.
You shine,
A ripple through water.
Beams on my skin,
On my face,
In my eyes.
Now a cloak to cover me
While I sleep.
No longer the bed
I lie within.
