It’s Longing That Moves The Sea

On the shore, I stand and wonder
If you’re really there.
It’s been such a long time
Since I could hold you.
It’s longing
That makes the ocean move.
Close to you
And then so far away.
I listen to your music
Still
And think of the movement
Of the sea.
Away, and towards.
Back and forth.
The longing in my heart
Is so profound
It could move great bodies
Of water.
I hope you feel it,
Wherever you are.
Oh, my tears add salt
To the sea.
My fragile heart;
This great ocean
Wets my feet
And holds my longing.
