Iceberg

The girl you see
Is a fragment of me.
I am so much more.
The girl you see
Does not feel free
To reveal her fragile core.
Although she’s tried,
She’s terrified
To dive beneath the surface.
That icy water
Has since taught her
To wear a smile on her face.
But, soon, she knows
When the winter moon glows,
She will lift the veil.
And the world will hear,
Through bitter tears,
This poor girl’s mournful tale.
Then one fine morn,
A golden dawn
Will shine a new, warm light.
And this girl, complete,
Rising to her feet,
Will no longer fear the darkness
Of night.
