Sleepy, Contented

Ideally, tonight
I would be in your arms.
Instead, I lie here alone.
But when my eyes are closed,
I feel your chest beneath my palm,
Slowly rising, and falling,
As we drift into slumber.
I feel the warmth of your skin
Against my cheek.
Bodies, unclothed,
Uncovered,
Under covers.
Uninterrupted,
We slip into sleep.
Heavy with contentment.
Here I lie alone,
Forever in your arms.
