“It’s like coming home after a long trip. That’s what love is like. It’s like coming home.”
Singing, for me, is like being in love. I close my eyes and get all wrapped up in it. I can’t see it, but I can feel it in my throat and in my stomach and it dances on my tongue, like raindrops. It fills me with warmth, and hope. I sing and I can feel it in my heart. That moment right before you touch lips in a kiss. When you’re smiling and there’s no reason for it, but there’s that rush. That warmth, that assurance. I’m safe in this bubble of my voice. If I sing loud enough, I cannot hear anyone, or anything, else. I’m happy. I’m home.
I may not always have love, but I will always have my voice.
